New Gates for Mile Cross Property

Posted on 22/02/2018
The gate system we installed.

As you might expect, we had a rush of enquiries in January following the stormy weather in Norfolk. We were driving all over the county giving quotes for new fences and gates to replace those destroyed by Storm Georgina and the unnamed storm that battered the county the week before. This property in mile cross was one of the smaller jobs, but we take just as much care with the small jobs as we do with the big ones.

New Gate System

Mr and Mrs Shorter had been meaning to replace the gates since they moved into the property in August. The central post between the double leaf gates and the side gates was rotten at the base and the heavy gates dragged along the ground and were difficult to manage. However, with a young baby and a new property they had quite enough to be getting on with and figured the gates could wait.

Mr Shorter said:

“I was woken in the night by a creaking sound. When I investigated in the morning the central post had snapped at the base bringing the side gate and the right-hand of the double-leaf gates with it. The weight of this had twisted the hinges on the left-hand gate. It was a mess and heavy to shift. I was just drawing up plans for a replacement when my wife suggested I call Norfolk Prestige Fencing and they came round and gave a quote that afternoon. The work was scheduled in for a fortnight’s time.”

We gave two quotes, one for a system with a side panel and one for a system with a side gate. The Shorters opted for a side gate system so they could get the pram in and out easily. We built the gates in our workshop and installed a heavy new central post of treated timber that is guaranteed for 15 years.

Mrs Shorter said:

“We were very impressed with the quality of the gates and the professional attitude of the team from Norfolk Prestige Fencing. Obviously, my husband was convinced that he could do it himself, but he is useless at that sort of thing and any attempt by him would only have blown down in the next gale. Some things are worth paying a professional to do!”

We give quotes on all sizes of jobs, from domestic driveway gates to full agricultural fencing systems. If you would like a free no obligation quote call 07947 366551 or email info@npfencing.co.uk.
