Top Tips to Improve Kerb Appeal

Houses with Kerb Appeal

First impressions count, so making your home look great from the outside is just as important as your indoor decorations. Whether you’re looking to sell your house, want to keep up with the neighbours or just want to show your home some love – improving kerb appeal can be done with little effort and big reward.

Grand Entrance

A quick and easy way to rejuvenate the front of your house is to clean up your windows and front doors. Clean window frames and polish up your letterbox, knocker and numbers. A lick of paint for front doors can make a world of difference – feeling funky? Why not go for a bright, bold colour? It’s not just wooden doors that can be painted, PVC doors can be painted too! White PVC doors show up all marks and dirt, needing regular cleaning – painting your door can transform the look of your home.

Green Garden

Opt for some evergreen plants in your front garden so that it looks great all year round, with pretty perennials for colour throughout the summer. If you’re short on space, a couple of potted plants by the front door looks smart and is easy to manage. If you’re really not a green thumb, these days it’s hard to tell artificial plants from the real thing – a faux Bay tree either side of the front door looks great!

Border Patrol

Fence, wall or hedge – make sure your perimeter is neat and tidy. Hedges need regular trimming and fences may need painting or varnishing. Brick walls with decorative coping stones need to be checked for cracks and damage, not only does a crumbling wall look unsightly it’s also a safety hazard. Wrought iron railings can be a good choice for smaller gardens, needing minimal upkeep they also don’t obstruct the view or light getting into your home.

Let There Be Light

A few well-placed lights can make your home look brilliant. Use solar powered lanterns or fairy lights to guide the path to your door or in and around hedges for a pretty effect. Spotlights, ground lights and porch lights are practical and stylish, making sure your beautiful garden can be seen night and day!

Jet Power

Paths and driveways can be given a new lease of life with a good jet wash. Remove any dirt and moss build up with a power washer to get your driveway looking as good as new. If you need more help than a jet wash can handle, get in touch for a free quote to replace your paving or driveway.
